A multi-million dollar rail upgrade in Queensland has been finished, to create Australia's first national rail network.

The Queensland Government has leased the new standard gauge track extending from the Queensland border to Acacia Ridge to the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) under a 60-year lease.

The ARTC will now operate the standard gauge national rail network linking every state from Queensland to Western Australia.

The lease agreement was marked by the completion of a $55.8 million concrete re-sleepering project between the Queensland border and Acacia Ridge. ARTC laid 105,000 concrete sleepers.

Rocla supplied all the concrete sleepers installed as part of this landmark project.
