At more than $800 million, Adelaide’s South Road Superway represents the single largest investment ever in a South Australian road project. Once finished, it will form a 4.8km long non-stop corridor, with a 2.8km elevated roadway, that stretches from the Port River Expressway to Regency Road.
Within such a significant infrastructure undertaking the ability to supply to a tight schedule is critical, and this was among the reasons that Rocla® box culverts were chosen for use by the Urban Superway Joint Venture.
Rocla allocated a number of moulds and operated extended shifts to meet the delivery schedule. In addition, the manufacture of the product was to DTEI specifications – including additional cover to steel to cater for site service conditions.
The project, which was started last year, is scheduled for completion in 2013.
