Rocla recently provided an efficient rainwater harvesting solution for a new retail development at Coolum Beach on the Queensland Sunshine Coast.
A short lead time and a limited site led to the original specifications being changed to Rocla® products because of Rocla’s ability to meet tight delivery deadlines and provide flexible solutions for difficult sites. Support from Rocla Engineering ensured the solution met the strict requirements of the council and the builder, Watpac Specialty Services, as well as the specification of designers Brown Consulting and the needs of the installation contractor, Main Constructions.
To achieve the nominal storage volume of 30,000 litres Rocla supplied a single 2550mm diameter concrete tank in three sections, with a Downstream Defender® hydrodynamic separator upstream of the tank to treat the collected roof runoff.
The Rocla Downstream Defender® separator was chosen because it can treat a wide range of flows without compromising TSS (total suspended solids) removal efficiency.
The treated water will be used for landscaping irrigation and for toilet flushing in the new retail precinct, which replaces 50-year-old existing buildings.
