Rocla’s MassBloc® earth retention system provided two quick, permanent retaining walls at Long Beach Estate, a residential development at Batemans Bay on the NSW south coast.
The walls were built to retain earth on a steep slope in a council reserve and were constructed easily using an excavator to place the MassBloc® permeable concrete units.
One of the walls supports a road through the reserve and is constructed above a 600mm diameter stormwater drainage line.
The other wall, further down the slope, retains earth around a sewer pump station.
The retaining walls were designed by Peter Smith Surveyors using a combination of full and half-height MassBloc units, and installed by civil contractor R. Miller Pty Ltd, who were also responsible for earthworks and drainage, using Rocla® SRC pipes, stormwater pits, headwalls, sewer access chambers and a Rocla® sewer pump station.
